Well we left Friday to head up to a Podunk town in Idaho called Soda springs to visit my family. It was fun to see them again. We enjoyed a unique type of hail storm that mesmerized us for about 15 minutes. We woke up early (not by choice- gotta love children who won't sleep in). And headed into town for a county wide pancake breakfast. They even served us "rooster eggs" and sausage. It was cold and wet from the storm the night before and we only dressed for Utah heat. So we were C-C-cold. but the the kids were great since they were running around playing at the playground.
Next came the parade. All fire trucks and police cars and farmers in their big Ol' trucks. Oh and one set of cheerleaders. At this pareade the tradition is that they can still throw candy. What a haul! Our bags were fuller than halloween! Then came the community carnival-- everything was free except the snow cones! lots of bounce houses, carnival games and prizes! It felt like christmas instead of independance day. Well an afternoon of trying to relax but couldn't -- we were going to watch the fire works but they didn't start until 10pm and our kids didn't make it- they were pooped and fell asleep. So all of us grown ups had a riviting evening of a skip-bo tournament. B. won every round the big stinker but it ws fun anyway.
Well we got up early to leave to make the many hours ride home so we could make 11 am church back at home. and here we are. It was a fun weekend. even if big D hadn't had meds for 3 days and was WILD and CRAZY and volume control stuck on LOUD. They won't admit it but, my family was probably gald to get us out of there. Their nerves had probably had it.
but glad to be home and ready to start summer vacation for real. I hope it will be great!
